The Riverwest Cooperative has secured a $150,000 Impact Investment Loan from The Greater Milwaukee Foundation

We are thrilled to announce that the Co-op has secured a $150,000 Impact Investment Loan from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation! This significant funding, alongside the generous contributions from our community through our GoFundMe campaign this winter, will enable us to make essential infrastructure improvements along with working capital. These enhancements include:

  • Purchasing new café equipment

  • Installing a new produce cooler with a misting system

  • Upgrading our indoor and outdoor signage and lighting

  • Building a parklet for our community

  • Expanding our advertising and outreach efforts

The past two years have been challenging, and we couldn't have reached this milestone without the unwavering support of our members, volunteers, and the entire community. The board and staff are deeply committed to the responsible stewardship of the Co-op and this incredible opportunity. We are determined to deliver outstanding results.

However, our journey is far from over, and we have much more to accomplish. We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor. Your continued support will be crucial to our successful growth and future.

We have lifted our hiring pause and have four Coordinator positions open. We will also begin hiring café staff in the near future. Please consider applying and share our job postings with your network.

We have one Board seat open - e-mail board@riverwestcoop.org to find out more info, or attend our next board meeting (information below)

.

The Communications and Marketing Committee will now have a substantial budget for advertising. We are in need of people with experience in marketing and advertising to help us create to volunteer for the committee, help with social media, design ads, write blog posts, or even help flyer!

The Membership Committee will be upgrading our signup process on the register, rebuilding member outreach and engagement, and running our first membership drive in two years. We are looking for outgoing and energetic folks who want to help recruit new members!

In true co-op style, we will be trying to stretch our dollars when it comes to the infrastructure improvements. We will have workdays this summer as we repair a wall in the café, build out the parklet, figure out how to get a new (bigger?) produce cooler through our doors, and so much more!
